What is Context in AI and how does it work?

A good understanding of Context is a fundamental key to understanding AI and most importantly, understanding how to write Prompts. Prompts are how and what is used to retrieve, or ask computers questions or, tell them what to do something for the user. To get better answers to your questions, you have to know how to properly phrase your questions. The more precise and relevant your question or Ask is, the better the response the LLM will give you; this is where Context comes in and why it is very critical.

To make this concept more relevant to humans, imagine you are having a conversation with a friend. In the conversation, you are talking about a red sports car you want to purchase. You ask your friend what he\she thinks about the Engine specifications of the car. Instead of taking about the car, your friends starts talking about Dogs! Instantly, you will realize that your friend is speaking out of context. So, context is basically, a background to something that helps make the “something” more meaningful. Another good example would be a discussion about music or entertainers and you say something like, “I love the singer Michael”. Because there are several singers named Micheal, the LLM may respond by showing you several singers named Michael and then asking you which of the Michaels you are talking about? If on the other hand you are talking about food and you say, “I love Michael”, the LLM wouldn’t know what you are talking about because there are very few foods named Michael.
